The First Winter

This offering comes from the very beginning, long before memory, long before story. It is the place I came from before the world touched me, before I opened my eyes, before I understood that belonging could disappear. This was my first winter, my first heartbreak, the first time something I depended on went quiet. I didn’t know its name then, but I have carried the shape of it my whole life.

There was a moment before my first breath when my world held only one voice, one presence, one rhythm that felt like home. When it vanished, something in me changed forever. I didn’t have language for it, but my body learned absence in an instant. A cold pressed itself into my chest, a loneliness without explanation. That beginning still echoes inside me. Some wounds form before we are old enough to understand loss, and yet they guide the shape of everything that follows.

This is the opening door. The first step backward into the truth beneath all the other truths. If you have ever felt alone without knowing why, if you have ever carried an ache you couldn’t name, this is for you. Because some of us learned heartbreak before we learned to speak. And we spend a lifetime listening for the warmth we once knew.

Thank you for listening and for letting this beginning settle inside your inner world. It means more than you know.
