This offering began during a deep drumming journey nine years ago. The rhythm carried me into a place I had never seen before, a place where fire moved with me and something inside me stirred awake in a way I could not name at the time. When I came out of the journey, I drew everything I had seen and wrote the number 212 in the corner without understanding why I felt compelled to mark it.
For years the drawing stayed with me in quiet ways. Life kept shifting, I kept changing, but that moment lived underneath everything like a small ember that never went out. Recently I found the drawing again. The feeling returned instantly. The heat. The movement. The sense of becoming. The sense that something in me had already known a version of myself I had not yet stepped into. I wrote these words soon after. And when I recorded them, the final audio landed at two minutes and twelve seconds entirely on its own.
It felt like recognition. A circle folding back to meet itself. A reminder that some parts of us never forget, even when we think we’ve moved far beyond them. It felt like the woman I am now finally reached back and touched the woman I glimpsed all those years ago.
